Approach to Therapy and Professional Interests
I believe that counseling is a conversation with a focus on the development of a solid therapeutic relationship. I prioritize the creation of a safe, authentic, non-judgmental space to heal and grow. My role is to ask questions, assist clients to formulate their own goals for the process and to explore their unique motivation for change. This includes focus on immediate concerns as well as historical issues that provide context for current struggles. My approach is person-centered and solution-focused while assisting clients to explore patterns of thinking and behavior that get in the way of their success. I consider myself to be a generalist and enjoy working with students presenting with depression, anxiety, adjustment issues and relationship concerns. I have special interest in working with students with ADHD and with students who identify as part of the LGBTQIA+ community.
Personal Interests
I consider myself a foodie and I love finding new places to eat. I enjoy spending time with my husband and adult children, reading, knitting, cooking and baking, and hanging out on the couch with my Labradoodles.
