Approach to Therapy and Professional Interests
My approach to therapy is primarily interpersonal/psychodynamic combined with behavioral principles and applications. As a counselor I aim to build an authentic relationship with each client and provide a space that is conducive to self-understanding. Depending on clients’ goals for personal growth and change our work may lead us into deep conversations regarding their past relationships, experiences, and traumas or it may not. My approach is determined based on clients’ needs as I believe that all of us have the autonomy to decide what kind of healing we are seeking. Regardless of how exploratory or practical our work becomes, my goal is to assist clients in finding meaning and making progress towards those aspects of their life which are most important to them.
I have professional interests in anxiety disorders, family of origin issues, relationship concerns, identity development, couples counseling, and men and masculinity.
Personal Interests
I enjoy spending time with friends and family, lifting weights, grilling, playing sports, watching movies, learning about history and philosophy, and taking trips to the beach.
