What to Expect Day-Of

Look for the Von’s Vision signage to direct you to the appropriate event location. Signage will be near the first-floor entrance of the Student Services Building, as well as when you arrive on the third floor. Check-in for the event will be hosted in room 314, which is down the long hallway when you exit the elevator to the left.
Please arrive for your appointment at least 10 minutes in advance. You will be asked to show a form of personal identification as well as the event eligibility form.
The entire paperwork and examination process will take approximately 15 minutes to complete. You will be meeting with optometry staff during the examination process and will then be led to a kiosk where you will be able to pick out a frame for your glasses. You will not receive any glasses on the day of the event, as they must be customized based on your prescription specifications. You will receive a copy of your prescription following your examination.
Once the examination process is complete and you have picked out your frames, you are welcome to exit the building. Your prescription will then be sent to a lab where your new prescription will be filled. You do not have to check-out after utilizing the event.
This event can only be possible with the help of student volunteers. While staff are present to assist with this event, a large number of individuals assisting with operations are student volunteers as well as community optometry staff. Every volunteer signs a confidentiality statement prior to assisting with this event. If at any time you feel uncomfortable with the volunteers helping at this event, please notify a staff member.

Post-Event

Glasses Pick-Up: After your prescription has been filled at a partner facility, the glasses will then be sent back to University Health Services (typically within 8 weeks following the event). When the glasses arrive, you will be contacted via the email you provided when you registered for the event. This email will specify pick up days, times, and the location within the Student Services Building.

Students have one month following notification to pick up their glasses or arrange for an alternate method to receive their glasses. Any glasses not picked up within one-month post-notification will be used at future Von's Vision events.

If the event is hosted towards the end of the semester, glasses may be shipped to the address provided when the student registered for the event.

If minor adjustments to your frames are needed, please visit a future Von's Vision event. If there are any issues with the glasses and/or prescription, please notify a University Health Services staff member.
