From Cart to Plate is a guided grocery store tour program designed by Texas A&M University Health Services to bring nutrition to the table, one aisle at a time. Grocery Store Tours help individuals make informed and nutritious food choices. This interactive experience empowers participants to navigate grocery aisles with confidence, understand food labels, compare products, and select budget-friendly, nutrient-dense options. Led by health educators, the program bridges the gap between knowledge and action, making healthy eating more accessible and sustainable.

Each tour is scheduled for 1 hour and 30 minutes. You may leave early, if needed, but we encourage students to stay for the full experience to complete the scavenger hunt and enjoy the recipe sampling.
Each tour begins with a walk-through led by a campus health educator. Students visit key grocery sections - such as produce, grains, dairy and snacks - to learn how to spot nutrient-dense foods, read nutrition labels and shop on a student budget. Next, participants complete a fun, interactive scavenger hunt through the store. The tour wraps up with a 20-30 minute cooking demonstration and sammpling provided by H-E-B Cooking Connections.
Meet at the front entrance by the produce section. A health educator will be there with tote bags and a sign-in sheet.
Yes. Students are responsible for their own transportation to the grocery store. University Health Services does not provide transportation at this time.
The tour is free to attend, however, if you register and fail to attend without notifying hannahsosa@tamu.edu at least 24 hours in advance, a $25 no-show fee will be charged to your student Bursar account. Since space is limited to 12 students, it's important to cancel in advance to allow another student the opportunity to attend.
No, you do not need to purchase anything. The tour is educational and all samples and materials are provided for free.
Only registered students may attend due to space limitations. If your friend is a Texas A&M University student, encourage them to register separately.
Yes! You're welcome to register for multiple tours. Each one features a unique theme while still covering the basics of healthy shopping.
