Students will learn about the different types of stress, how to recognize their own stress responses, and the science behind how the vagus nerve supports the body’s ability to reset and relax. Suicide is one of the leading causes of death in college-aged individuals. The severity of suicidal crisis and existence of stigma can limit one’s ability to or comfortability in reaching out to campus resources. Similarly, many individuals want to support peers and loved ones in crisis but may not know when or how to help. Increasing awareness of the signs, symptoms, and statistics related to suicide can enable us to support both ourselves and our loved ones. This presentation aims to give an overview of the importance of suicide prevention, ways to identify signs of need, basic skillsets for supporting someone in a crisis, and resources available both on and off campus. This presentation can be a beneficial introduction or supplement to more in-depth gatekeeper presentations.

Talk Saves Lives is an educational presentation by the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention (AFSP) that provides an overview of suicide prevention. It increases awareness by covering warning signs, risk and protective factors, and actionable steps to help prevent suicide. Emphasizing early intervention, support, and stigma reduction, this presentation equips individuals with the knowledge and confidence to take proactive measures in their communities.

Workshops
College life often demands constant productivity, leaving little space for intentional rest or creative self-care. The Mandala Relaxation & Art Workshop invites students to pause, breathe, and reconnect with themselves through a unique blend of mindfulness education and hands-on art making. This session explores the importance of rest and self-care, offering a calm and supportive environment for personal relaxation and reflection. Students will create personalized mandalas as a form of active self-care and will have the opportunity to engage in guided discussions or individual reflection prompts. The purpose of this workshop is to offer students a meaningful break with a chance to unwind, enjoy the creative process, and explore mindfulness through art.

This presentation is a nutrition-focused grocery store tour that brings practical nutrition education to life by guiding students through various sections of the store. Led by trained health educators, students will learn to confidently read food labels, compare products, and identify nutritious food choices. Our goal is to equip participants with the tools they need to make informed and budget-friendly food choices to support sustainable, healthy eating habits in the campus community.

This concise, engaging presentation introduces college students to the foundations of performance nutrition and how everyday food choices can support an active lifestyle. Students will learn about the core roles of carbohydrates, protein, fats and hydration, along with practical strategies to fuel the body before, during, and after physical activity. The session also highlights simple nutrition habits that have a meaningful impact and connects students to campus recreational facilities and local opportunities for staying active in the Bryan – College Station area. Whether you’re a student athlete or just on the go, this presentation offers tools to feel and perform your best.

This presentation includes two interactive activities designed to help students feel confident in their ability to handle minor injuries, respond to emergencies, and seek professional help when necessary. Participants will practice using an ACE wrap to stabilize injuries and manage swelling, providing them with a practical tool for addressing joint and muscle injuries. Additionally, students will pair up to perform a choking first aid simulation and safely practice the Heimlich maneuver. These activities complement the presentation’s learning objectives and ensure students gain both theoretical knowledge and practical skills.
