Workshops

Workshops are opportunities to increase different coping skills and wellness habits aimed towards improving your mental health and wellbeing. You can learn practical tools to effectively manage concerns related to depression, anxiety, difficult emotions, relationships and more. University Health Services offers virtual and in-person workshops that will be facilitated by staff over the span of one to two weeks with opportunities for participants to ask questions and engage with the workshop materials.

University Health Services provide services for all Texas A&M University students. If you do not see a workshop that fits your needs, please reach out to uhsinfo@tamu.edu so we can provide you services that meet your needs.

Single Session Workshops

This workshop will help you learn more about worries regarding social activities and take a strengths-based approach to help you be kinder to yourself and more confident at your next gathering or event.

  • Sept. 12, Oct. 17, Nov. 21, 1:00 - 2:00 p.m.

Develop successful study strategy for exams, including how to make the most of your time, manage stress, study effectively and take care of yourself.

  • Sept. 23, Oct. 21, Nov. 18, 3:00 - 4:00 p.m.

Actively participate in a workshop designed to use your own study materials for finals to develop a plan of attack for what you need to study, how long it will take, and how you plan to learn the material! The Developing a Study Plan workshop will help you better understand what you need to do to prepare for your final exams. Have your syllabus and/or notes to get the most out of the workshop.

  • Oct. 25, 3:00 - 4:00 p.m.

This workshop is designed to help students struggling with productivity or questioning their ability to succeed. Students will learn to recognize the impact of the imposter phenomenon on their well-being and learn strategies to manage and succeed through feelings of imposterism.

  • Oct. 11, Nov. 15, 3:00 - 4:00 p.m.

Learn how to match interests with academic majors and occupations. Registration and completion of the interest inventory are needed 3 business days prior to the workshop.

Learn how to incorporate your personality into career planning. Registration and completion of the personality measure are needed 3 business days prior to the workshop.

  • Sept. 27, Nov. 1, 1:00 - 2:00 p.m.

This workshop will help build participants’ confidence as we reframe how we talk to ourselves. We will discuss resilience, ways to move forward, and strategies to be kinder to ourselves.

  • Sept. 19, Oct. 17, Nov. 14, 3:00 - 4:00 p.m.

This workshop is designed to help participants begin to understand the concept of worthiness. We will explore this by looking at the areas of self-esteem, self-compassion and perfectionism.

2-Session Workshop Series

The goal of this workshop is to provide you with life-long tools you can use while facing anxiety-triggering situations.

  • Tuesdays, 2:00 - 3:00 p.m., via Zoom
  • Fridays, 1:00 - 2:00 p.m.

This workshop will provide you with life-long skills and tools to recognize and manage depressive symptoms you may be experiencing.

  • Mondays, 10:00 - 11:00 a.m.
  • Thursdays, 3:30 - 4:30 p.m., via Zoom

Do you struggle with saying no even when you really want to? Is it hard to set boundaries with people and stick to them? Do you wish you were better at asking for help or for clarification? This workshop may be for you! Assertive communication is different from aggressive communication and learning this valuable skill can help multiple areas of your life. In this workshop we will clarify assertive vs. aggressive communication, provide examples of assertive communication, and practice assertive statements together in a small group format.

Students will learn the importance of setting healthy boundaries and how unhealthy boundaries can affect well-being. Students will have the opportunity to anonymously submit real-life situations to discuss during the workshop. These examples will be used to practice setting and communicating healthy boundaries.

Students will learn common characteristics of both healthy and unhealthy relationships. Students will learn common communication styles and will learn to identify their own frequently used communication styles.

We make thousands of daily decisions, many of which become habits. These habits determine our outlook, health, and overall well-being. How can we most effectively manage our time, practice gratitude, and reframe challenging situations? We can improve our health and wellness through our thought processes and mood management. Join us to learn how to “Eat the Frog” and discuss other practical stress management tools for improved well-being.

Workshops are hosted on various dates and times throughout the semester. International Student Workshops

This workshop is designed to provide international students tips on how to adapt and adjust to the new environment and culture.

This workshop will help you develop a successful study strategy for exams, including how to make the most of your time, how to manage stress, study effectively and take care of yourself during the semester. Handouts are provided.

This workshop is designed to help students understand the helpful and unhelpful aspects of being a perfectionist and learn strategies to reduce these perfectionist behaviors.

This workshop will help students learn strategies to manage their everyday stress and learn ways in which they can balance their academic and personal goals.

 


Law School Workshops

A Stress-Less Wellness event will teach strategies and mindfulness techniques to help reduce anxiety and stress. Participants will be able to practice and experience mindfulness techniques to effectively incorporate these methods into their daily lives.
