Workshops are opportunities to increase different coping skills and wellness habits aimed towards improving your mental health and wellbeing. You can learn practical tools to effectively manage concerns related to depression, anxiety, difficult emotions, relationships and more. University Health Services is offering virtual and in-person workshops that will be facilitated by staff over the span of one to two weeks with opportunities for participants to ask questions and engage with the workshop materials.

University Health Services provide services for all Texas A&M University students. If you do not see a workshop that fits your needs, please reach out to uhsinfo@tamu.edu so we can provide you services that meet your needs.

2-Session Workshop Series

The goal of this workshop is to provide you with life-long tools you can use while facing anxiety-triggering situations.

This workshop will provide you with life-long skills and tools to recognize and manage depressive symptoms you may be experiencing.

This workshop is designed for students who are experiencing challenges in their relationships with others. Students will discuss ways to identify healthy vs. unhealthy relationships and cultivate more satisfying and supportive connections with others.

Do you struggle with saying no even when you really want to? Is it hard to set boundaries with people and stick to them? Do you wish you were better at asking for help or for clarification? This workshop may be for you! Assertive communication is different from aggressive communication and learning this valuable skill can help multiple areas of your life. In this workshop we will clarify assertive vs. aggressive communication, provide examples of assertive communication, and practice assertive statements together in a small group format.

This is a fast-paced 2-session workshop intended to help increase your understanding and knowledge about test anxiety. This intervention is not intended to “get rid of’ your test anxiety but is designed to provide you skills to help you manage your test anxiety. Pre-registration is required to participate in the workshop.

College of Arts & Sciences Workshops

Join us for coffee, donuts, and a discussion about how to best take care of yourself during graduate school.  This is for any graduate students, not just psychology students.

Stress. It makes your heart pound, your breathing quicken, and your forehead sweat. But while stress has been made into a public health enemy, new research suggests that stress may only be bad for you if you believe that to be the case. Psychologist Kelly McGonigal urges us to see stress as a positive and introduces us to an unsung mechanism for stress reduction: Reaching out to others. Bring your lunch and join us as we watch a TedTalk and discuss how to better manage stress in our lives.

There is a lot of stress and anxiety around college, whether you're fresh out of high school or you've decided to go back to school years later. It can be tough to navigate. But, one of the best ways to navigate keeping yourself focused so you can succeed is by being aware of the pitfalls. This way, you can head into your college experience with open eyes and the knowledge of the places and people you can turn to for help. Bring your lunch and join us as we talk about how to better manage our mental, physical, and emotional mental health in college.

This workshop is designed for students struggling to cope with painful or rapidly changing emotions. Students will learn to manage their emotions using 4 steps. 1. Recognize 2. Accept 3. Be With 4. Coping.

This workshop offers a safe space to join in camaraderie and conversation, while sharing our experiences of imposterism and feelings of not fitting in.

Students will learn the importance of setting healthy boundaries and how unhealthy boundaries can affect well-being. Students will have the opportunity to anonymously submit real-life situations to discuss during the workshop. These examples will be used to practice setting and communicating healthy boundaries.

First Generation Student Workshops

Workshop Series
This workshop will equip students with resources and skills needed to succeed at Texas A&M and beyond. Students will gain skills related to building healthy relationships, setting boundaries, effective time management, engaging in good study habits, and the importance of self-care. Accessing resources and ways to build effective skills will be discussed, reviewed, and practiced through this workshop series.

This event is intended to teach strategies and mindfulness techniques to help reduce anxiety and stress. Participants will also be able to practice and experience mindfulness techniques to effectively incorporate these methods into their daily lives.

School of Education & Human Development Workshops

This workshop will present a 25–30-minute Zumba exercise for participants followed by a lecture and panel discussion with a focus on movement for:

  • Improving emotional regulation
  • Reducing stress
  • Improving mood

Come relax, get centered and cope with stress by focusing on movement and mental health. Participants will need to wear athletic clothing and sneakers for the active portion of the presentation.
