Approach to Therapy and Professional Interests
My goal when working with individuals is to create a safe, supportive, and open environment for individuals to share their experiences and/or speak about the things that are truly bothersome and perpetual. I am passionate about engaging individuals in a journey of self-acceptance and growth, while utilizing a combination of different therapeutic approaches, such as: Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), Motivational Interviewing (MI), and Mindfulness. Much of my education and career experience has been rooted in dual-diagnosis or co-morbid therapeutic relationships. I approach therapy from a person-centered perspective to access and process the emotions, thoughts, behaviors, and all things human that make an individual unique. I strive to assist individuals in overcoming personal challenges, identifying goals, and in working toward improving their overall wellbeing based on individual needs.
Personal Interests
When not in office, I enjoy spending time with my family and the family dog (Samus, Boxer). I also enjoy meeting and learning from new experiences and people. In addition, my professional interests include: The therapeutic alliance, Anxiety and Mood Disorders, Trauma and Stress-Related Disorders, Dual Diagnosis (substance use & mental health), Social Skill and Coping Skill building, Stress Management, Suicide Prevention and Awareness, and First Responder, Armed Services, and Veteran’s support.
