Gayle Ponder, MD

Biography

Dr. Gayle Ponder received her bachelor’s degree from Erskine College and her medical degree from The Medical University of South Carolina.

She completed her residency training in Family Medicine at the University of Texas Health Science Center in Tyler, TX. Dr. Ponder is board certified in Family Medicine.

Dr. Ponder has been on staff at University Health Services since 2008 and currently serves as Chief of the Medical Staff. She enjoys the full scope of Family Medicine; this includes caring for routine illnesses, mental health concerns, preventive health services for men and women, and performing minor procedures. She is a proponent of helping students make informed healthcare decisions. She also serves on the Texas A&M Eating Disorders Interdisciplinary Team (EDIT) to help monitor students with eating disorders for medical complications.

Dr. Ponder is originally from South Carolina and is married with two children. She enjoys spending time with family, fitness classes, as well as travel and outdoor activities. Dr. Ponder loves working at University Health Services because she is able to interact with a diverse student population and help them feel better as well as educate them about their health.
